World Day Against Child Labour 2025 Observed in Patuakhali.

The World Day Against Child Labour 2025 was observed in Patuakhali on June 19, organized by Lal Sobuj Society in collaboration with Manusher Jonno Foundation and the SAFE Project. Although the day is internationally observed on June 12, it was marked in Bangladesh on June 19 due to a public holiday.

To mark the occasion, a public awareness rally started from the Patuakhali Circuit House and ended at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Following the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the DC’s conference room.

The chief guest of the event, Mr. Mohsin Uddin, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Patuakhali, said, “The administration is taking a strict stand to ensure that no child is involved in labour in this district. If necessary, licenses of institutions involved in child labour will be cancelled.” He also mentioned that mobile courts are being operated regularly, and children are being brought into the education system through school-enrollment programs.
Mr. Md. Mofidul Islam from the Ministry of Labour and Employment attended as a special guest. Representatives from the District Education Office, Department of Youth Development, District Information Office, Shishu Paribar, and local journalists were also present. All participants expressed their commitment to preventing child labour and protecting children’s rights.
Over 70 representatives from local NGOs, CSOs, and social organizations joined the event.
