Safeguarding Children by Engaging Youth

Lal Sabuj Society, in collaboration with Manusher Jonno Foundation, has launched an educational program titled “Safeguarding Children by Engaging Youth” in various unions of Patuakhali Upazila. The primary aim of this initiative is to ensure the protection of children and adolescents and prevent sexual harassment through the active involvement of local youth.

Initially, volunteers from Lal Sabuj Society have conducted this program in three unions of Patuakhali Upazila. With the participation of local representatives, teachers, school staff, and conscious members of the community, awareness messages were delivered to over a hundred students in three primary schools, three madrasas, and three secondary schools. A total of 90 volunteers have actively worked in this initiative.

Running from December 2024 to June 2025, this program is expected to raise health awareness among marginalized children and protect them from sexual harassment. As part of the campaign, we visit schools and educate students about sexual harassment, good touch and bad touch, and children’s rights. Through games, street plays, and various cultural activities, we make students aware of these important issues.

Our core objective is to spread awareness on sexual harassment to every corner of the country through students, guardians, teachers, staff, and other conscious members of society. We aim to ensure child protection through the involvement of local youth. Additionally, we are working to support the implementation of the High Court-mandated guidelines for a harassment-free educational and work environment by engaging local stakeholders.

This initiative has served as an important educational experience for participants, helping them become more aware of their rights and safety.
In this way, Lal Sabuj Society’s “Safeguarding Children by Engaging Youth” initiative has successfully delivered a powerful message to society, which will play a significant role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children in the future.
