On 3 August 2026, a mental health support initiative was organized in Daulatdia, Rajbari, to help address the mental health challenges faced by women sex workers in the community. The activity was jointly organized by Lal Sabuj Society and Women Possibilities at the venue of Mukti Mohila Samity.
A total of 14 women sex workers participated in group and one-to-one counselling sessions designed to provide a safe and supportive space for emotional expression, reflection, and individual support.
The sessions focused on creating an environment where participants could openly share their thoughts, feelings, and personal experiences without fear of judgment. Through group discussions and individual counselling, participants had the opportunity to talk about their concerns and receive guidance based on their individual needs.
Mental health challenges can often remain unspoken, particularly among people facing social and economic vulnerabilities. Having a safe space to speak openly and someone to listen with empathy can make an important difference in a person’s emotional well-being.
The counselling sessions emphasized the importance of seeking support when needed and encouraged participants to recognize and communicate their emotional needs. The one-to-one sessions also provided an opportunity to address individual concerns in a more private and personalized setting.
The initiative reflects the importance of accessible and inclusive mental health support for marginalized communities. By creating opportunities for women to speak openly, share their experiences, and receive professional support, the programme aimed to contribute to their emotional well-being and strengthen their confidence in seeking help when needed.
Sometimes, small things can make a big difference—being able to speak freely, share what is on your mind, and know that someone is there to listen and support you when you need it most.
