A self-defense training program for adolescent girls and young women was held on June 12 at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur. The initiative was jointly organized by Lal Sabuj Society and Women Possibilities with the aim of promoting safety, confidence, and empowerment among young women.
The training provided participants with practical self-defense techniques and essential safety skills to help them respond effectively in challenging situations. In addition to physical self-defense methods, the program focused on building self-confidence, increasing awareness, and strengthening decision-making abilities during emergencies.
Organizers emphasized the importance of such initiatives in today’s society, where empowering young women with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves is increasingly necessary. They noted that self-defense training not only enhances personal safety but also contributes to greater confidence and independence.
A particularly encouraging aspect of the initiative is its continuity. Every Friday, 20 adolescent girls and young women participate in the training sessions, gaining valuable experience and developing skills that can help them navigate everyday challenges more safely and confidently.
Participants expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to learn practical techniques while also improving their mental resilience and self-assurance. The organizers believe that programs like this play a significant role in creating a safer environment for young women and fostering a generation that is more confident, capable, and prepared.
Through ongoing engagement and training, Lal Shobuj Society and Women Possibilities hope to continue supporting young women in becoming more self-reliant, aware, and empowered members of their communities.
