
A three-month self-defense training program for adolescent girls and young women has been launched in Gazipur to promote women’s safety, confidence, and empowerment. The initiative is jointly organized by Lal Sabuj Society and Foundation for Women Possibilities.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the conference room of Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Joydebpur, Gazipur. The event was attended by Nurul Karim Bhuiyan, Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur, as the Chief Guest, while Tania Tabassum served as the Special Guest.
In his speech, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of basic self-defense skills for women in today’s society. He stated that self-defense training not only helps women protect themselves in challenging situations but also strengthens their confidence and sense of security.
As part of the program, 20 young women from across Gazipur District will participate in a comprehensive three-month training course. During the inauguration, participants received self-defense training uniforms to support their learning journey.
The organizers highlighted that the entire program is being offered free of charge. Refreshments will also be provided to participants throughout the training period to ensure a supportive learning environment.
Parents and guardians of the participants attended the event and expressed their appreciation for the initiative. They shared their hope that the training would enhance the participants’ confidence, awareness, and ability to respond effectively to difficult situations.
Approximately 60 people, including organization members, participants, and guardians, were present at the inauguration ceremony.
Lal Sabuj Society reaffirmed its commitment to promoting women’s safety, empowerment, and personal development through similar initiatives in the future. The organization aims to continue creating opportunities that help young women build confidence, resilience, and essential life skills.
