
A special awareness session titled “Citizen’s Rights and Debate Practice” was held at Government Brojomohon College, Barishal, on Thursday, October 30.
The event was organized by the Lal Sabuj Society with support from The Asia Foundation, aiming to strengthen civic understanding and promote awareness of citizen’s rights among young students.
The session began at 10 a.m. in the college’s Arts Building, where students participated with enthusiasm, engaging in discussions on the importance of civic responsibility, access to information, and the role of debate in building an informed society. The program encouraged students to think critically and express their views confidently.
Guest speaker Sangita Sarker, Assistant Professor at Government Brojomohon College, led the session, while Tahsin Uddin, Founder & President of Lal Sabuj Society, and Md. Shahidul Islam, President of the Government Brojomohon College Debating Club, attended as special guests. Their insights and guidance encouraged students to think critically and express their views confidently.
At the end of the session, participants shared their experiences and expressed their eagerness to join similar activities in the future, reflecting the event’s positive impact on youth engagement and civic learning.
