Lal Sabuj Society has been working to strengthen citizen participation in the digital era through collaborative initiatives with international partners. As part of this effort, the Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI) project is being implemented in partnership with DDI South Asia, CIVICUS, and Accountability Lab, aiming to promote civic engagement and expand civic space through digital platforms.
On March 2026, two representatives from Accountability Lab Pakistan visited the Lal Sabuj Society office in Dhaka as part of the ongoing collaboration under the Digital Democracy Initiative project. The purpose of the visit was to review the progress of the project, discuss the implementation process, and explore ways to further strengthen future activities.
During the visit, the Lal Sabuj Society team provided an overview of the project’s activities, achievements, and challenges. Discussions focused on initiatives designed to engage citizens through digital platforms, improve access to information, and raise civic awareness among young people. The session also highlighted how digital tools can support greater public participation and accountability in democratic processes.
The visit also created an opportunity for project monitoring, strengthening partnerships, and exchanging experiences between the organizations. Both sides engaged in meaningful discussions on key issues related to digital democracy, civic space, and civic engagement in the South Asian context.
Participants shared perspectives on how technology and collaborative efforts can help expand civic participation and empower communities. They also emphasized the importance of cross-border learning and cooperation to address common challenges related to civic engagement and democratic participation.
Lal Sabuj Society reaffirmed its commitment to continuing activities under the Digital Democracy Initiative to promote active citizenship, increase awareness among youth, and strengthen civic engagement through innovative and inclusive digital approaches.
Such exchange visits and discussions are expected to play an important role in strengthening regional collaboration and advancing the goals of digital democracy across South Asia.
