Chattogram, August 20, 2026: With the support of UNICEF, Lal Sabuj Society’s Chattogram Team strengthened its flood response activities across Chandanaish, Satkania, and Banshkhali upazilas from August 16 to 20, 2026, reaching students and community members with essential information on flood preparedness, safety, and life-saving measures.
As part of the initiative, school-based awareness sessions were conducted in a total of 14 educational institutions across the three upazilas. The sessions covered important topics including flood risks, preparedness, safe practices, emergency response, and other life-saving messages to help students and communities better prepare for and respond to flood-related emergencies.
Among the educational institutions where the sessions were conducted were Dohazari Girls’ High School, Dohazari Aziziah Hossainia Alim Madrasa, Dhopachhari High School, Puranghar Shah Sarafuddin High School, Al Falak Madrasa, Sadhanpur Girls’ High School, and Satkania Model High School.
The activities aimed to increase awareness among students about the potential risks associated with floods and encourage them to adopt safe and responsible practices during emergencies. Through interactive sessions, participants were provided with practical knowledge on how to respond to flood situations, protect themselves and their families, and share important safety information within their communities.
At the same time, six community courtyard meetings were organized in different areas of Chandanaish and Satkania under the Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE), Life-Saving Messages, and Accountability to Affected People (AAP) activities.
These meetings created opportunities for flood-affected and vulnerable community members to share their experiences, concerns, and immediate needs. Their feedback and perspectives were given importance as part of the community engagement process.
Through these combined school and community-based activities, with the support of UNICEF, Lal Sabuj Society’s Chattogram Team continued its efforts to strengthen flood preparedness, promote life-saving information, and ensure meaningful engagement with affected and at-risk communities across the targeted areas.
