“Lal Sabuj Society” the youth-led organization has been progressing their journey steadily for nearly 16 years. Recently, it has secured a place in the government’s NGO Bureau registration list. On Tuesday, January 20th, the organization officially received recognition as a registered NGO. The Director-General of the NGO Bureau, Dawood Mia, handed over the signed letter to Lal Sabuj Society’s President, Tahsin Uddin, that day.
The journey of “Lal Sabuj” began in May 2010 when founder Tahsin Uddin, along with his friends Fahim Saurav and Nazmul Haque Naeem, started the organization as a small initiative. At that time, they were all 13-year-old teenagers. After nearly one and a half decades, “Lal Sabuj” is now “Lal Sabuj Society,” and it has successfully achieved government registration as an NGO. This success is the result of the hard work of thousands of young people across the country.
What started as a small initiative in 2010, today reaches more than 200,000 people and directly working with over 2,500 youth members across 35 districts of Bangladesh. The organization is working through awareness campaigns, workshops, and training programs to bring about positive change and empower youth for a better future. It follows at least seven Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) declared by the United Nations, under the slogan “Engaging Youth for Positive Change.”
The members and well-wishers of the organization are elated at the recognition from the NGO Bureau. Founder Tahseen Uddin stated, “We are both delighted and aware that our responsibilities have increased. With respect for this responsibility, we will continue to move forward and work even harder.”
This recognition marks a new chapter for Lal Sabuj Society, strengthening its commitment to empowering youth and creating lasting positive change.
