A discussion session on child rights and protection was held in Patuakhali on 29 October, organized jointly by Lal Sabuj Society and Manusher Jonno Foundation.
The event took place at the Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Room, with Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Shahid Hossain Chowdhury as chief guest. Special guests included Additional Superintendent of Police Apu Sarwar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Local Government) Juel Rana, and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Masud Ul Alam.
The session highlighted the importance of safe and caring environments at home and school, with emphasis on protecting children from bullying, abuse, and neglect. Lal Sabuj Society representative Momena Sifa Rumki presented findings showing that most child-related news in national newspapers this year were negative, with health disparities, abuse, and accidental deaths identified as major threats.
Representatives from government and non-government organizations, including schools, hospitals, social services, and youth development offices, attended the session. The discussion emphasized the need for collective efforts to ensure the safe growth and wellbeing of all children.
