A series of youth-focused climate awareness programs titled “Plastic Market” were held in Feni, Chattogram, Gazipur and Cox’s Bazar to engage students in environmental conservation and plastic pollution reduction.
Organized under the Green Planet Academy Project with support from the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD), the Embassy of Sweden, and Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), the events aimed to educate children and teenagers about climate change, sustainable practices, and the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).
During the programs, students actively participated in the interactive “Give Plastic, Take a Tree/Gift” activities, exchanging collected single-use plastics for tree saplings or eco-friendly gifts. The sessions created an engaging environment for youth to learn about the importance of protecting nature and promoting sustainability.
Across the four districts, the initiatives collectively reached hundreds of students and teachers, inspiring young people to contribute to a cleaner environment and understand their role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
